Progress

Today I worked on a new article for the news website and made changes to the layout. I also designed the logo and decided on a colour scheme for the brand. These are grey and purple, I and the group have also decided the logo will not inlcude the big ben, but instead will look current for the age group we are targeting. I made this logo using logo maker, in which I could choose the 'T' and chose a font and colour for the rest of the logo.

Ideas For Opening Title Sequence...

Today, in order to get the best results for our opening title sequence, i analysed existing news channels. I found that although Newsround was closest to us in terms of our audience, their title sequence did not at all reflect this. Their colour scheme was earthy using shades of blues and greens. The globe shape they incorporated gives me the impression that this news is global. I also had a look at the BBC title sequence which i thought was too serious and would already be off-putting for our target audience. Its colour scheme consisted mainly of red and white. It gives you a minute countdown in which they show you where they are located, reporters abroad, different cities and news coverages. Again this is shown on a global scale. The final and in my opinion the one that related most to THRILL was Daybreak. Their opening title sequence conveyed the different elements that start your day. E.g grabbing a cup of coffee before leaving to go to school, or getting on a bus or train. I felt like this was the most relevant to us although we would still need to adapt it to suit or target audience. I then brainstormed a list of things i felt would work well in our sequence.

Target Market Research And Results

Target Market Research Questionnaire
How do you access your news?
When do you access your news?
How often do you access your news?
What age group do you feel we should target?
Our current idea is based around whether children are growing up too fast; do you think this is a subject that affects your age group?
We plan to do a story on the sexualisation of children, do you think it is worthy of a news report?
Our website will also contain content from other subjects as well as fashion,  there anything else you would like to see?

These are the questions we asked in order to gain and insight into what our audience wanted. Although we originally planned to base our idea fashion solely, we found that doing this isolated some people and meant that although we weren't going to be able to focus on those who were interested in other things. We also concluded that art, music and sports interested people just as much as fashion and so we have decided that in order to get the best result we weren't going to focus on fashion news because it was too niche. We asked about 10 people from both genders for their views and took them into consideration to when defining what TRILL was. We have decided that TRILL is news that focuses on teenagers and what they want and like instead of what we as its creators want and like. The results were filmed.

Market Research

On Tuesday 18th September the group gathered and started filming our market research. We decided that the best location to find interviewees was outside our schools common room as they're all people our age (our target audience.) This allowed us to get the most reliable and useful results for the task that we set ourselves. We interviewed 8 people all together, 5 girls and 3 boys, which gave us a near enough clear view point of what todays teenagers are really interested in, how they receive their news and what news they are most interested in.

Filming Target Market Research

Today chandni. fabs and myself filmed the for research. While i asked the questions, fabio filmed making sure framing was correct and Chandni went to find people for us to interview. Nassia stayed for a short while. In total we found 8 really good answers

Progress Report

Today I looked at other teen news websites for ideas for our logo. I found 'teen kids news', 'teen holywood' and 'teen now magazie', however I did not find much inspiration from these and therefore decided to base our logo on London rather than teenagers. I then drew out some logo ideas, one we agreed on as a group was to incude the london eye as the dot above the 'i' in trill or the big ben as a capial 'I' in trill.

Hiyaa

HEY, my name is Nassia (Nass for short.)
Last year in the first year of Media AS we were asked to produced our own unique thriller opening sequence, which not only brought out a lot of creativeness and team skills but also generated a love for media, as a subject, and film making. Moreover I was able to start using and become comfortable with programs such as Adobe premiere and Photoshop. As I've decided to pursue Media in A2 I hope to present all my newly gained media knowledge and skills from last year into this years work to present the best piece of work possible and hopefully the highest grade I can achieve.

Over & out, Nass.

Hello there my name is Fabio Angelini-Márquez

last year i studied Media Studies for one of my As subjects, i enjoyed the subject and succeeded in it well enough for me to take it for another year. This year for A2, our aim is to achieve a result equal to or better than what we got last year. Our task for this year is to create a news title sequence and a news website that will appeal to people our age group so we can associate with the people we talk to and the people that will read the news story, with hard work we can acheive our goals.

HI!

Hi, I'm Chandni.
I studied media last year, my enjoyment of the subject made me want to continue studying it as an A2 subject. I hope to use and improve skills I learnt from my coursework last year and achieve a higher grade. This year we are producing a news story  and news title sequence along with our own news channel website for our target audience, we have chosen to appeal to young adults and teenagers around the same age as us. For this years coursework we will be developing our own news brand rather than a thriller opening sequence, I look forward to doing this and I am excited for the year.

Welcome to me..

Hi, i am Babz. Last year, during our creative project i developed a love for media and have decided to take it just that little bit further this year. I hope to transfer all the skills i learnt last year whilst creating our thriller opening sequence to the task this year, using the creativity i picked up last year. We have been given a brief to come up with a news channel which conforms to our target audience. During this time, we must an create an opening sequence for our news channel and film a news report on a subject we feel passionate about. I am mainly responsible for the creation of the website but will be have input into the other factors like primary research, filming and other elements.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Trill blog!
During this year we will be developing and working on our news channel 'Trill' which stands for The Real Inside Look of London, concentrating more on the teenage perspective of the world. All members of the group will be updating you on a daily basis about the progression of our channel and any implications/difficulties we stumble upon.

Over and out,  Fabio, Barbara, Nassia and Chandni. (Trill Family)
