Analysis of News Packages

In today's lesson, i started analysing a news package so we could begin to understand how they are structured and how its content is organised to keep the audience interested. I looked at a BBC news report and 'Global Youth Unemployment' that i found on youtube.

The clip starts with a midshot of the presenter looking directly into the camera and introducing the topic. this allows us to briefly familiarise ourselves with the presenter but also introduces the subject of discussion. He doesn't talk about the topic in too much detail with the kowledge that the news report will do so.

The next thing shown to us is a panning camera movement which sets the scene for the report, a factory. The  'BBC WORLDNEWS' logo still remains at the bottom right of the scream.

A few filler shots that add body to the report are then used while the voice  over plays.

The news reported is then shown walking towards the camera whilst speaking. He begins to go into  more detail about the topic which in this case is youth unemployment. His body language is formal at the same time as welcoming in a way. His hand gestures are a from of communication with the audience and he seems to be looking directly into the camera and building a relationship with his audience through the way he communicates even if it is only for 5 minutes. His attire is formal and smart in order to communicate proffesionalism.

He then introduces the subjects as people experiencing the topic of discussion. they dont talk but the are still given camera time.

The presenter the inroduces a Head Teacher. This choice or interviewee possibly comes about people as a head teacher, youth unemployment would be an important topic. His status gives the piece some reliability.
